How PitchCoach AI works
Read this once and you will know everything you need. It takes about five minutes end to end, or you can jump straight to whatever you are stuck on.
Quick start
Your first session, start to finish
Five steps. The whole thing takes about ten minutes, most of which is you talking.
Create your account
Sign up and tell us what you are practicing for: an interview, a presentation, a pitch, a TEDx talk or something else. That becomes your default, so each session starts out graded the right way. No card needed.
What you see: Your dashboard, with one button on it: Start Your First Session.
Start a session
Press Start Your First Session. Later on it is Start your next session on your dashboard, or Record on your phone. The Grading as card shows what the session will be graded against: the kind of talk, the goal, and any focus areas you want a closer look at. It carries over from last time, so check it and press Change if this one is different. A wedding toast and a funding pitch get graded against completely different standards, and this is what tells us which one you are doing.
What you see: One screen: the Grading as card, practice questions if you want something to answer, and a big record button.
Record or upload
Record straight in the browser, or use the upload link under the record button for something you already have. Video is fine, we only listen to the audio. Twenty minutes is the limit per session, and the recorder stops itself when you get there.
What you see: A live timer while recording, or a progress bar while your file uploads.
Let it grade
Transcription runs first, then the grading. It takes about a minute, a little longer for a long recording. Keep the page open while it works. If you close it, the session waits on your dashboard under Still grading and carries on when you open it again.
What you see: A progress bar, with a quick question or two to answer while you wait.
Read it, then go again
The report is the point, but the second session is where this starts working. Once you have history, every new report is measured against your own average instead of a generic bar.
What you see: Your score, your Top Improvements with something to try on the next run, and a button to record it again.

What the feedback actually means
Here is what shows up on a finished session. Some parts are always there, some depend on how you set the session up.
The score
One number out of 100 with a plain-language tier under it: 90 and up is Excellent, 80 Strong, 70 Solid, 60 Developing, and below that Keep practicing. Most solid, coherent talks land in the 80s. A 65 is not a disaster, it means there is something specific in the way. Once you have earlier sessions, it also shows how this one compares with your average.
Top Improvements
The specific things to fix, most important first, each with a Try this: something concrete to do on your next run. Number one sits near the top of the report with a Record it again button, so you can try it while it is fresh.
Your scores
Clarity, confidence, pace and filler words, each out of 100, so you can see which part pulled the overall number down. Once you have earlier sessions, each one shows how it moved.
Delivery Vitals
This card is counted, not judged. Your pace in words per minute and how much it varied, every pause longer than a second and a half, and your filler words a minute. It comes from the timing of each word in your recording, so the numbers are the same every time and they are not an opinion.
Filler Words Detected
The filler words the AI picked out of your transcript. It also catches words that are only filler in context, like a "so" that starts every sentence, which a plain count would miss.
Your Focus Areas
If you picked focus areas when you set up the session, each one gets its own score and its own note. This is the part that changes based on what you asked for.
Your TEDx Talk
Choosing TEDx talk as the speech type swaps in a rubric built for that format: One Big Idea, Narrative Arc, Opening Hook, Emotional Resonance, and Memorable Close. Five scores, five notes.
Your Progress
A short read on what has actually changed across your recent sessions and what keeps coming back. It only appears once there is history to look at, and it will not invent a trend that is not there.
Since your last take
When you record the same talk again with Record it again, the new report opens by putting the two takes side by side.

Joining a team or program
If a coach or program lead invited you, this is how you get in. While you are on a team with an active plan, you get Pro.

Joining with a code
- 1Sign up, then open Team from the menu. On a laptop it is also a tab at the top.
- 2Switch to the My teams tab.
- 3Enter your invite code and press Join.
- 4Wait for the coach to accept you. Until they do, your request shows as pending and you will not see anything from the team yet.
What your coach can see

- The full report on any of those sessions
- How often you practice and when you last did
They cannot see
- Sessions still being graded
- Sessions you deleted
- Anything at all until they accept your request
What you see of your teammates is up to the coach. They decide whether the roster, the team average, the activity chart, and the leaderboard are visible to speakers. The leaderboard is off unless they turn it on.
For coaches
Running a group
Creating a team is free and takes about two minutes. A team plan turns on the roster, the analytics and email invites, and gives every speaker on the team Pro.
- 1Go to Team and create your team. Name it and choose what speakers can see: the roster, the team average, the activity chart and the leaderboard.
- 2Start a team plan sized to your group, from $39.99 a month for 5 speakers up to 40. For more than 40, email us.
- 3Invite speakers by email, and they join as soon as they sign up. Or share your eight-character invite code and accept each request as it comes in. Nothing from a speaker is visible to you until they are on the team.
- 4Post to the whole group from messages, where speakers can reply, or message one speaker privately from your inbox.
The roster
Every speaker with their session count, average, and last active date. Click one to open their full history, their progress chart, and any individual report.
Standouts
Top performer, most improved, most active, and who needs a nudge. The last one is the useful one. It surfaces the people who signed up and then went quiet.

Common questions
How long can a session be?
Twenty minutes. A full TEDx talk fits, with a little room. If you upload something longer it gets rejected before grading, so trim it first or split it in two.
How many sessions do I get?
Free is 2 per calendar month. Pro is $4.99 a week for 10 sessions a week, or $9.99 a month for 40 a month. You can also earn extra sessions: each friend who signs up with your invite link gives you one more (up to 10 a month), and those never expire.
What happens to my recording?
It is uploaded, transcribed, graded, and then deleted from our storage. We do not keep the audio or video. The transcript stays in your account so you can read it back, and it is never included in a link you share.
Can I record on my phone?
Yes. iPhone and Safari record in a different format to Chrome, which is handled for you. Use headphones or get close to the mic, since background noise costs you accuracy on the filler-word count.
What does sharing a session publish?
A single page with your score and summary. You choose whether it also shows the category breakdown and your first name. The transcript is never on it. You can stop sharing at any time and the link dies immediately.
My session says error. Now what?
The session page tells you what went wrong, and your dashboard lists any session that could not be graded. Most often the audio was too quiet or had no speech in it, so check that the recording plays back with audible speech and try again. A session that could not be graded is credited back, so it does not use up one of your sessions. The one exception is a recording over the twenty minute limit.
